NDM-1 in Australia

The Age has an article describing Australians who have obtained medical care in India and returned to Australia with NDM-1.  Physicians report seeing patients who are unresponsive to standard antibiotics.  Infectious disease specialists recommend use of isolation and contact prevention to reduce spread of NDM-1 within hospital settings.  One infectious disease specialist argues that JCI accreditation standards are not effectively identifying hospitals where international patients are at risk of exposure to NDM-1.
